Working with Industry to Reduce Inequality

About Us

Evolution Film was established in 2022 to Examine and Address Inequality in the Film, Television and Creative Industries in terms of EDI. This is part of the British Academy Innovation Fellowship held between Prof Jason Lee, De Montfort University, and Jones Bamber Productions Ltd. We have employed 100s of people on our films which have been considered for an Oscar (Ryan Can’t Read) and long-listed for a BAFTA (22+1) and discussed on Channel 4. Our impactful policy work is changing the industry. We are now an international organization with 700+ members working across 6 continents with major studios. Join our journey by dropping us an email: evolutionfilm2022@gmail.com

Our Projects

We have completed several film projects, both fiction and documentary. This includes co-producing the short film Ryan Can’t Read (Rhys Chapman, 2023), which shows a neurodivergent man struggling to find work and dealing with grief. The short has been praised as “touching and important” by legendary filmmaker Ken Loach and was considered for an Academy Award. Other films we have made include the horror Pawen (Richard Elson, 2023) and the comedy Up and Down (Richard Elson, 2024). We have run highly successful workshops on equality and filmmaking, details of which can be read on https://cjplee.com where you can also find our blogs.
